iPhones to get longer battery life27 December 2011
Apple developing long-lasting power cells
One of the biggest complaints made by iPhone users is being addressed by Apple, according to patents filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
The documents relate to hydrogen fuel cell technology, something long since touted as being the answer for the development of transport but now being explored as the solution for mobile technology.Hydrogen fuel cells convert hydrogen and oxygen into electrical energy and water and is considered as a clean alternative to fossil fuels.
In the patent applications, Apple says 'such fuel cells and associated fuels can potentially achieve high volumetric and gravimetric energy densities, which can potentially enable continued operation of portable electronic devices for days or even weeks without refuelling'.So hopefully we can look forward to lighter tech that lasts much longer on a single charge.
