Nokia Lumia 710 heading to Orange

11 January 2012

Windows Mango handset is 'coming soon' to the network

We heard it would hit the UK in early 2012, but so far, there had been no network confirmation for the Nokia Lumia 710. All that has just changed.

Orange has just gone live with a page promoting the Nokia Lumia 710 in the UK. OK, it's not the Nokia Lumia 900, which launched in the US yesterday, but it's a much overdue arrival for the handset, which first made an appearance back in October and should mean a more affordable Nokia

Windows option for anyone pondering giving Windows 7.5 (Mango) a go.

If you missed it back then, this isn't a million miles away from the Nokia Lumia 800, with 8GB of storage (compared to 16GB on the 800), a 3.7-inch WVGA ClearBlack screen and a five-megapixel auto-focus camera. You still get a 1.4GHz processor here too (with hardware acceleration and graphics processor) and if your mood changes regularly, this model also has interchangeable covers.

Orange has gone live promoting the fact that it will sell the phone, but has yet to come forward with a price. It should be notably cheaper than the Lumia 800. When both phones launched, the Lumia 800 was offered SIM-free for €420, while the price of the Lumia 710 was quoted as €270. From that, we can assume the contract price for the Lumia  710 will be cheaper than the £36 monthly fee initially demanded for the Lumia 800 by Orange. That's the theory anyway.
