Pink Samsung Galaxy S II for your Valentine

17 January 2012

Coloured Android smartphone should land ahead of the big day

If your relationship is still all champagne, roses and 'nothing is too much money', you might be interested in a pink Samsung Galaxy S II for Valentine's Day.

Yes, forget about chocolates or a meal in a swanky restaurant, you'll be an instant hit if you drop this bit of high-end gadgetry on 14 February. Unless you land your intended with a huge monthly contract in the process. That's not really going to work, especially as you'll be talking a total outlay of at least £720 over a two-year period. You might want to check if your partner likes pink too. Contrary to popular belief, not every woman does. If pink doesn't work, there's always a white one.

But let's stick to the pink for now, which is the new arrival. It's exactly the same as the other versions in terms of specification, which means a slimline smartphone, with a 4.27-inch 800x480 Super AMOLED Plus display, along with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) for the OS, an eight-megapixel camera, two-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling and a dual-core 1GHz Samsung chip with 1GB of RAM. You can read our review here.

All of that and the lovely shade of pink will be available at Phones4U, on a contract with Vodafone, Orange or O2, presumably at the same cost as a black or white one. Order now and the phone will arrive on 13 February. At least, that's the theory. If it doesn't arrive, you might need a late dash round the local shopping centre to keep the love alive.
