Samsung Galaxy Note landing in white

23 January 2012

Offered as an early exclusive at John Lewis stores

The craze for white smartphones continues apace, with the Samsung Galaxy Note being the latest to benefit from a change of colour.

These white versions are obviously popular or the makers wouldn't release so many. This one, however, has some added exclusivity that other white phones don't offer - you can only get it from one store. You'll have to get down to the London Oxford Street branch of John Lewis to get one initially, which means you're unlikely to see many of the streets of Aberdeen or Glasgow.

In fact, if you get there close to the release date of 23 January (that's today, by the way), you'll get another bonus – the first 100 sold will also include £250 worth of music, films and ebooks to get you started. If that all sounds like hard work, the white Galaxy Note will be everywhere from February.

Underneath that white exterior, much is the same. Which isn't a bad thing considering it got such a hot review off us back in November. That means a super-large 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.4GHz dual-core chip, 1GB of RAM, Android Gingerbread for the OS, an eight-megapixel camera with LED flash and a two-megapixel front-facer for video calls.

Pricing will be the same as the blue version too, should you fancy picking one up either this month or next, as a SIM-free phone or on contract.
