Nokia Lumia 900 hitting the UK in June?

24 January 2012

Carphone Warehouse pre-order page spills the beans

It was talked about for weeks, then officially launched at the recent CES trade show. But until now, we haven't had details of the Nokia Lumia 900 hitting the UK. We still haven't got the official word, but a leak now gives a strong indication of the release date.

The Lumia 900, the big brother of the Lumia Windows Phone range, was launched for AT&T customers in the US earlier this month, but if a Carphone Warehouse pre-order page is genuine (and there's no reason to believe it isn't), we'll be waiting until June for a UK launch. Longer than we might have hoped, but at least we have confirmation that it is coming to these shores. It was never clear whether the phone was a US

AT&T exclusive or a wider release.

If you missed the launch of the Lumia 900, it's not a million miles away from the Lumia 800, but with a 4.3-inch AMOLED display with an 800x480-pixel resolution. The same 1.4GHz SnapDragon CPU is on-board and indeed, the same eight-megapixel camera. The other big feature was 4G LTE connectivity, but as the networks aren't ready for that in the UK, expect it to be missing when our version hits the shelves.

Don't go looking for that pre-registration page though, it looks like Carphone Warehouse has pulled it – perhaps it shouldn't have been up in the first place. It wouldn't surprise us if an official European launch came at next month's MWC event, with pre-orders for the Lumia 900 (and pricing details) following not long after that.
