Samsung to upgrade bada to version 2.028 December 2010
New OS version to feature an array of improvements
The next iteration of the Samsung-derived operating system, bada, is on the cards with the company explaining what we can expect from the new version which will be known as bada 2.0. Six handsets currently run the operating system, which has, thus far, reached version 1.2.
The new version of of bada includes an array of new features which are detailed within this official presentation (PDF file). They include near field support which is similar to that offered by the new version of Android: version 2.3 Gingerbread.
Samsung has also promised developers that they will be able to play with a brand new SDK that supports both MAC and Linux this time. bada 2.0 will also support multitasking plus a better UX and UI framework.
Another addition will be proper integration of third-party social networking and security improvements which will generally be good news but even more so if those social networking improvements are implemented. Related to all of that, a revenue model support will also be added.
Samsung has yet to reveal the release date for the new operating system or plans for current phones (like the Wave) to be upgraded.
