Samsung Galaxy S III definitely not at MWC01 February 2012
Ice Cream Sandwich superphone will get its own launch event
The Samsung Galaxy S III, hotly-awaited successor to the wildly popular Galaxy S II, will not, repeat not, be launched at Mobile World Congress.
Samsung has released an official press statement confirming the non-launch, while also dangling the real launch in front of our greedy noses.
It said: 'The successor to the Galaxy S II smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.'
So there you go. The Galaxy S III, rumoured to come with Ice Cream Sandwich and a 12-megapixel camera, is such a big deal, it's not going to be unveiled with the rest of the plebs at MWC – Galaxy Advance S and Galaxy Tab 11.6.
Look out for a summer shelf date – to better do battle with an incoming iPhone 5?
