Three to offer Samsung Galaxy S Advance

02 February 2012

Newly-launched Android smartphone could be here in March

When it got the official launch earlier this week, details of UK availability for the Samsung Galaxy S Advance were vague to say the least. Things have become a little clearer today.

The newly-launched Android phone has now been confirmed for the Three network. That's the good news. Unfortunately, the network hasn't added to that with news of just when it will land or indeed, how much it will cost. Although we can obviously speculate. The phone was due to arrive in Russia first, with February slated for that. The rest of Europe was down as soon after, so March is a good bet. We can also assume this mid-range smartphone will be offered on one of Three’s One Plans.

If you missed it, the Galaxy S Advance will offer up a 1GHz dual-core CPU, four-inch, 480x800 Super AMOLED display, 16GB of memory and 768MB of RAM, along with HSPA connectivity, a five-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel networking camera. No Ice Cream Sandwich sadly, we're talking Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the OS.

Commenting on the launch, Sylvia Chind, head of handsets at Three said: 'The Samsung Galaxy S Advance combines eye-catching design with powerful technology specs that make for an outstanding smartphone experience. Coupled with Three's fast 3G network*, videos will download quickly so you won't be left in the dark waiting for the latest movie trailers to download.'

If that appeals, contact Three to get your name on the list.
