ZTE PF200 gets an official launch

21 February 2012

Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone packs a 1.5GHz processor

ZTE doesn't want to hang on until MWC before announcing its new hardware, but you can expect the ZTE PF200 to be shown off at that particular trade show.

The ZTE PF200 is one of two phones launched by the company, but as the N910 is down for LTE networks only, we'll skip that and focus on this one, which is compatible with UK spectrums (although an LTE version is being offered elsewhere).

It's a phone that could help ZTE make another step towards being a recognisable name in the UK market. But don't rule out this smartphone being branded as something else – ZTE has made phones for Orange for example, including the recent (and well-received) Orange San Francisco II. So it could slip into that company's range too.

But right now, it's the PF200 and a smartphone that comes with Android Ice Cream Sandwich from the off. It also offers up a 4.3-inch QHD capacitive touch-screen, a 1.5GHz chipset, an eight-megapixel camera and a 1080p HD front-facing camera for video calling. The handset also has Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, Wi-Fi, A-GPS connectivity.

No news on a UK launch, expect that to follow in the coming weeks.
