Microsoft Office on the iPad gets hands-on

22 February 2012

Could be in the app store in a matter of weeks

Back in November, The Daily<

em> claimed that Microsoft was 'actively working' on bringing Microsoft Office to Apple's iPad. Since then, all has been quiet. But now, that same publication has another exclusive – a first hands-on with the app.

Here it is, pictured in all its glory, with The Daily<

em> claiming it will 'soon be submitted' to Apple for approval. So in theory it could land in the app store any day. Now there's a nice thought. In relation to that brief hands-on with a 'working prototype', the app is said to be similar in look to the OneNote app, with Word, Excel and PowerPoint files able to be created and edited locally and online.

Sadly, that's all we've got on it. With an iPad 3 on the horizon, it wouldn't be a surprise to see this launch around the same time as Apple's tablet, but you never know, it might sneak out a little sooner, especially as the design team behind it has 'wrapped up the project'.

It is iOS-only too, with no Android app in the works. As for price, $10 was quoted in the past, so don't be surprised to see £10 when it hits the UK app store.
