Nokia is top Windows Phone vendor in Q424 February 2012
More Lumia phones shipped than HTC or Samsung Windows handsets
Strategy Analytics has released some figures showing that Nokia done Microsoft good – it was the top vendor of its Windows Phone OS last quarter.
Only three other Windows Phone models went on sale in the UK – Samsung's Omnia W and the HTC Titan and Radar – but it does represent a small victory for Nokia, shipping 0.9 million units of the total 2.7 million Windows Phone shipments.
Strategy Analytics' director Tom Kang added: 'Nokia's Microsoft smartphone growth during the quarter was achieved partly by capturing market share from HTC.'
For Microsoft, this is a growth of 36% from the previous quarter. Strategy Analytics' associate director Alex Spektor said: 'Microsoft smartphone shipments remain tiny, but they are showing tentative signs of growth.'
Nokia now owns 33% of the Windows Phone marketshare, a trend that's likely to continue with its rumoured launch of six handsets at Mobile World Congress (MWC).
