Huawei launches the MediaPad 10 FHD28 February 2012
World's first 10-inch quad-core tablet comes with ICS too
We love a 'first' and we have one this morning from Huawei – the MediaPad 10 FHD is said to be the world's first quad-core tablet. In other words, a seriously high-end piece of kit.
Specifically, that's a Huawei 1.5GHz K3 quad-core processor on-board, which is joined by 2GB of RAM, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and an impressive (and competition-beating) 10-inch 1920x1080 IPS HD touch-screen display.
You'll also find an eight-megapixel camera in there too, plus a 1.3-megapixel camera for your networking needs. The device comes with Dolby Surround Sound and is said to be around 8.8mm thin
thick and weighs a not-too-heavy 598g.
How all that pans out in terms of power usage isn't clear – there's no mention of the battery. But the company does mention 3G and LTE support and an approximate launch date of the second quarter of 2012. More on this when we hear the UK launch details, as well as Huawei's quad-core Ascend D Quad smartphone, which also launched this week.
