2.8-inch Android smartphone isn't heavy on the pocket
The big MWC trade show might be over, but it seems Samsung certainly isn't done. At one end of the spectrum, the flagship Samsung Galaxy S III will soon be making its debut and at the other end is the Samsung Galaxy Pocket.
That's not being critical about the Samsung Galaxy Pocket, it's simply pointing out that this is at the affordable end of the Galaxy range. As well as being easy on the pocket, it should fit in nicely too, with a mini (for 2012) 2.8-inch 240x320 screen. Other features include Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the operating system, working alongside Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, ChatOn messaging and Samsung's Social Hub.
You'll also find 3GB of internal storage, a microSD expansion slot, a 2-megapixel fixed-focus camera, FM Radio (a staple of all budget phones), Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi and 3.6Mbps HSDPA connectivity.
'This new device adds further breadth to the choice of smartphones we currently offer and provides a smartphone experience for even more customers at an affordable price,' said Simon Stanford of Samsung. How 'affordable' isn't clear as yet, but it's unlikely to break the bank when it hits the UK later this year.
