Wireless charging company signs agreement with General Motors
Car chargers may soon become a thing of the past thanks to a new agreement between wireless technology experts Powermat and American based automakers General Motors (GM). Powermat has already established themselves as an innovative and nifty way of charging your mobile phones and electronic devices and now we can expect the same technology to begin rolling out in mid-2012.
Assuming the in-car technology follows previous Powermat incarnations then you'll be able to simply place your mobile phone or other personal electronic device such as MP3 player on a flat surface embedded in the car, before watching your juice levels top up.
The Chevrolet Volt will be the first car to feature Powermat's technology, but General Motors claims it will be the first of many, with future car brands to include Buick, GMC and Cadillac. Assuming it proves to be a success then we'd expect British car manufacturers to also jump on board.
