LG Pecan goes official with Orange

Budget Android could have NFC technology built-in

Ghosting onto the official Orange site is the LG Pecan, presumed to be a budget Android handset, but possibly packing an interesting little bonus.

Essentially it's a pay-as-you-go phone, likely to get an official unveil at the imminent MWC event. So far, not so interesting. But according to Recombu, the phone has featured in its native Korean press, where it was rumoured to feature NFC technology for contactless payments. As this is something Orange is pushing from early summer, it does tie in nicely.

But that's just a 'maybe', what about what it is actually confirmed? Android 2.2 (Froyo) for the operating system for a start, along with a 3.15-megapixel camera with video recording capability, an LCD screen with a 320x480 resolution and up to 5 hours talk-time plus 14 days on standby. So still a few blanks to fill in, but you get the idea.

No news on price either, despite the official page on the Orange site. But predictions are somewhere between £89 and £125 for a pay-as-you-go purchase.
