Vodafone offers Android 2.3.3 for Xperia phones06 June 2011
Xperia Play and Arc owners can download now
Perhaps quicker than expected considering it was only talked about a couple of weeks back, the Android 2.3.3 update is now available to owners of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Arc. At least it is if you have one on the Vodafone network.
The Sony Ericsson global rollout started just last week, so this is a pretty quick turnaround for a mobile network. It's not exactly a life-changing update, more like a few tweaks and the odd fix.
Specifically, that means a redesigned keyboard for easier touch-screen typing, an improved app management system and enhanced image viewing
decoding, along with improved voice quality, better device stability, improvements to email (especially when dealing with exchange accounts) and of course, those all-important security patches.
If you want it, hook up your smartphone to your computer via USB and open the Sony Ericsson Update Service application. You'll be told it's available – just follow the on-screen instructions after that. You can also check the version of the software on your handset by keying ##7378423## and then navigating to Service info, then Software info. The new software version should be 3.0.1.A.0.145.
