Rumour: iPad 3 to land by Xmas14 June 2011
Featuring Retina display like the iPhone 4
Who doesn't love a good Apple rumour? Or even a bad one? This one centres around the iPad 3, tipped to come with at least one of the features we were hoping for in the iPad 2: that high-res Retina display as seen in the iPhone 4.
This would give the third-gen tablet a screen resolution of 2560x1920 pixels, over six times that of the current iPad 2 screen - and indeed, the original iPad.
The rumour comes from Taiwan's Economic Daily <
em>newspaper, which also states a launch for Q4 in this year, in time for Christmas shopping.
Perhaps more likely is the second part of the same report, which says an updated MacBook Air will be available this month. This superslim netbook-but-sexier will come with Intel's new and more poweful Sandy Bridge processor, as well as Thunderbolt ports for faster data transfer.
Meanwhile, a 'limited' iPhone 5 is pipped to be launching in September, suggesting that the first iOS5 device might be further away than we thought...
