New Skype 2.0 app finally lets you make video calls on (some) Android phones
Skype has updated its Android app to finally support video calling. Previously only supporting VOIP calls and instant messaging, the new Skype 2.0 app now lets you make free video calls over both Wi-Fi and 3G.
Skype recently confirmed an iPad app, and the video calling feature has always been available on the iPhone - which already has Apple's own Wi-Fi-only video calling app, FaceTime - so it's a puzzle why it's taken this long to hit Android.
v2.0 has had a general design refresh too, with a new interface that includes a status update box for you to share your thoughts and feelings with the Skype-o-sphere.
Skype 2.0 rolls out now and will initially be available to the HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo and Pro, and the Google Nexus S. It's free at the Android Market or from the Skype website.
