APP WATCH: Twitter updates Android app14 July 2011
Now offers multiple accounts and notifications
If you are an iPhone user, you might be wondering what the fuss is about. But that's perhaps because the new features on offer in the new Twitter Android app have been around on the Apple smartphone for a while.
But now those features are available to Android smartphone users, well worth upgrading to as well. For a start, the app now offers push notifications. So direct messages and mentions will be flagged up and if you set 'automatic refresh', your screen will keep updated without you constantly checking it. If you don't want to miss out on the action, you'll certainly be keen on that.
Secondly, if you have multiple accounts, personal and business for example, or different accounts for different websites and blogs, all of those can now be checked without having to log out. You simply switch between all the accounts to keep tabs on what's going on for each one. It seems like a small thing, but once you have it, you'll never want to be without it again.
Finishing things off are some improvements to home screen widgets, plus various minor enhancements and those inevitable bug fixes. All of it available now and for free at the Android market.
