Android 3.2 heads to UK Motorola Xoom

September sees OS update for tablet

It looks like an Android upgrade is heading to the Motorola Xoom in the UK, some time after the same OS hit US tablets.

According to the Inquirer, Motorola has just confirmed the upgrade to Android 3.2 Honeycomb for UK users, with an approximate date of 'September'. We know that's a little vague, so just keep checking for software updates. If we hear anything specific, we'll let you know.

The update from 3.1 to 3.2 isn't life-changing, that's for sure. According to Google, 3.2 'includes a variety of optimizations across the system to ensure a great user experience on a wider range of tablet devices', including such exciting features as being able to zoom fixed-size apps designed for smaller screens and the ability to sync media from a microSD card. That card slot, of course, was enabled in the jump to 3.1.

Still, it's free and big fixes are always welcome. Better news for Motorola customers is the Google buy-out of the company. It could mean devices likes the Xoom are first in the queue for any future updates and enhancements. At least, that's what you'd think.
