APP WATCH: Facebook 3.5 for iPhone launches

But code for the iPad version now removed

Despite the code lurking in the last version of Facebook, Facebook for the iPad still hasn't appeared in the App Store. But Facebook 3.5 for iPhone has.

According to reports, the code that was hidden in the app for the iPad last time has now been removed, which indicates that the tablet version of the social network has been knocked back even further. We have no idea why that will be. Back in July, we heard that the code for the iPad version was more or less the finished product. Presumably a bug or two have appeared in the meantime. Either way, it's not here and there's no indication of a launch anytime soon.

Which leaves us with Facebook 3.5 for the iPhone. Essentially, the new upgrade is all about sharing and privacy, putting the app on a level with the desktop version. Specifically, the new version of Facebook adds the ability to tag friends and places in posts and gives you the option to share external links from a web view. There's also a new design for Profile and Group Walls and an improved sharing tool, which adds privacy controls on posts, matching your settings on the website.

Bug fixes too, including problems with Facebook Chat, the speed of notifications, the notifications bar, photos bugs and 'improved performance and stability overall', which is something of a catch-all. Grab the update now, it's still free to download.
