Smaller version of the Thrive is inbound
Japanese giant Toshiba has just announced a new, more compact version of its AT100, or Thrive tablet. This seven-inch version is packing Android Honeycomb 3.2 and a Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, so it's a great spec for a smaller screened device. It may be compact in terms of screen size - the original was 10.1-inch - but it's a hefty lump at almost 12mm thick and weighing in at 400g.
Expect a great display with the LED backlit AutoBrite screen offering 1280x800 high-definition imaging, along with five-megapixel and two-megapixel cameras that Toshiba are describing as 'HD'. The chassis features microSD, HDMI and USB connectivity, along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS so it's feature-rich and it's going to be available in both 16 and 32GB storage options.
There's still no release dates or pricing as of yet but we're expecting it to be the end of the year Stateside so the likelihood is it'll reach the shops in the UK by early 2012.
