What's the difference between the two flagship BlackBerry 7 phones?

There's a new BlackBerry in town – but unless you pay close attention to model numbers and hardware parts, you might actually not notice at all.

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 is the latest in RIM's flagship Bold portfolio, sliding in after the powerful Bold Touch 9900 (which we loved) but taking its lead from its real predecessor, the Bold 9780.

So what's the difference between these two new BlackBerrys, the Bold 9790 and 9900?

The Bold 9900 is noticeably taller and wider, with a 130g heft to the Bold 9790's 107g. Its chrome edging is more prominent as well, lending it an even more business-like feel.

Both run on the new(ish) touch-screen-friendly BlackBerry 7 OS, with home screen panels dividing apps into All, Frequent, Favourites and more.

Where the Bold 9900 features a shiny black back with a subtle pattern, the Bold 9790's cover is a gunmetal grey with a matt sheen. Both have the same five-megapixel camera though.

The Bold 9900 might feel bigger, but its slimmer at 10.5mm (RIM's thinnest phone yet) to the Bold 9790's 11.4mm.

Of course, BlackBerrys are judged on their QWERTYs, and despite a smaller keyboard, the Bold 9790 doesn't sacrifice anything in comfort or spacing.

We'll have a full review of the Bold 9790 soon.
