HTC Edge rumoured to pack Tegra 3, HTC Ville to come with dual-core chip

HTC is rumoured to be launching quad-core phones at Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month.

The decision might come as a surprise to those hoping to see a little HTC sparkle at CES in Las Vegas, which kicks off on 10 January.

em> reported that it expected the manufacturer to show off high-end phones powered by Nvidia's quad-core Tegra 3 chips, as well as dual-core powered handsets.

We've already heard about the Ville, rumoured to be HTC's thinnest phone ever, as well as not one but two quad-core phones, the Edge and Zeta.

And the vital statistics are impressive. The Edge will come packing a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 4.7-inch screen, eight-megapixel camera and be capable of taking 1080p high definition video. The Zeta is rumoured to be equipped with a blazing 2.5GHz four-core chip, putting it on speed with the only quad-core mobile device out right now, the Asus Transformer Prime tablet.

So much for the dual-core explosion – it looks like HTC are already doubling the stakes for MWC.
