A moist and fluffy news cake made from the tastiest tech morsels

Another busy week for smartphone and tablet tech news, but the usual suspect Apple was innocuous only in its absence. In fact, besides the now-standard rumour of an iPad 3 release next month, the fruity giant barely made a grunt.

Thankfully, Samsung ensured our fingers didn't get a much-needed rest. Depression set in as the Galaxy S III launch at Mobile World Congress (kicking off in just three weeks) was officially scrubbed, but we might instead get a glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus, an updated version of the excellent Samsung Galaxy S II.

One of these, but better. That's the Samsung Galaxy SII Plus<

Samsung also launched its Galaxy S Advance handset, a dual-core Android handset that's sadly lacking Ice Cream Sandwich. And as if that wasn't enough, we heard rumours of a Galaxy Tab 11.6 that's in the pipeline. Maybe next week there'll be less Samsung news, and we can actually go home to see our families (by families, we mean our box of stray cats, all dressed as gnomes).

Fashionistas (whatever they are) will get a kick out of the BlackBerry London's funky new look, or for something more unusual, why not try this bamboo handset?

So that was this week in mobile tech, and we'll leave you with this smart new tariff from T-Mobile, offering unlimited calls, texts and web use from £36 per month – nice. Have a great weekend folks!
