Drop these powerhouse smartphones in the toilet and you're fine
Fujitsu showed off its new Android smartphones hot from Japan, which are heading to the UK later this year. It realises the market is tough but has some interesting design ideas that might help propel it into mobile lovers' hearts
First up is the quad-core model, boasting a hardy processor that handled games such as Riptide with ease. A 13.1MP camera means you can capture sharp and vivid snaps on the go too. At the moment it's called a string of letters and numbers, but Fujitsu has promised to rectify this with some super sexy monickers for the UK launch.
Fujitsu is one of the few manufacturers who care about call quality, and this phone's dual-mic setup means ambient noise and other call disturbances can be filtered out. The phone can even output voices at an appropriate frequency based on your age, so older users don't miss a thing.
Built-in fingerprint scanners are another cool Fujitsu feature, allowing you to unlock your phone and apps securely.
Clumsy users can rest assured that the Fujitsu quad-core phone will survive a trip into a toilet too, thanks to tight construction and covered ports.
In fact, the whole range Fujitsu showed off was waterproof, ably demonstrated by this aquarium at its stand:
That right there is the Fujitsu Tab, taking a rather risky bath. As you can see it survived just fine, to the relief of those demonstrating it.
The 10.1-inch tab also responded well even when Natasha's hand was wet (don't ask), so it'll work well if you're relaxing on the beach, playing with a tablet for whatever reason. The display was bright and colourful, and Google's Android OS ran perfectly.
Fujitsu also showed off this 4-inch slim and light Android 2.3 smartphone, packing a 5.1MP camera and a 1.4GHz CPU.
This phone is also waterproof and is expected in the UK later this year.
We also checked out the Fujitsu Windows phones, which come in a range of bright colours.
Natasha was particularly enamoured with this pink model, and stopped squealing just long enough for me to take a shot:
With a 13.2MP camera, waterproof bodies and 32GB of built-in storage, these phones aren't just pretty.
