Seven-inch tablet will be first to run on Android 3.2
As far as tablets are concerned, the debate rolls on as to what the ideal size of display is. Chinese manufacturer Huawei has unveiled their foray into the market, opting for the smaller seven-inch screen. However, before all you 10.1-inchers click on the next story, there is a reason for Huawei's decision. The Huawei MediaPad looks set to be the first tablet to run on Android 3.2, an operating system that is optimised for seven-inch tablets. So what do you get with 3.2 that you won't with 3.1? Well to be honest, not a great deal more, but it should make for a slicker, better presented UI for the seven-inch tablet market.
Other features on the Huawei MediaPad include a powerful dual-core Qualcomm processor running at 1.2 GHz, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, GPS and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls and a five-megapixel camera rear-facing camera for spontaneous shots.
A US Q3 launch has been mooted, so fingers crossed it will arrive on these shores shortly after. No mention of pricing yet.
