Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 launches June 24 in the US 21 June 2011
Wi-Fi-only version, still no UK launch confirmation
It’s official – the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be launching on the US network Sprint this week on the 24th. Unfortunately, there’s not a whiff of a UK launch date in the announcement.
Oddly, the carrier will be launching the Wi-Fi-only version of the Android Honeycomb tablet that’s already shaping up to be the most hyped tablet of the year… that isn’t an iPad at least.
If what we reported last week holds water, the tablet should also be launching with the newer version of Honeycomb, 3.1, already available as an OTA update.
According to Into Mobile, Sprint has confirmed the price as US$499 (UK307), which is pretty astounding considering the iPad 2 and most other tablets start at 399. Could this be enough to make up for glaring dearth of Honeycomb apps and any logical way of finding them on the Android Market?
Let’s hope that by the time we do get our mitts on a Tab 10.1 this side of the pond, the Market will have sorted itself out enough for that to be an unnecessary question.
