Interest-free alternative to a contract iPad
As well as buying one outright, some networks, notably Orange and T-Mobile, are offering the Apple iPad subsidised if you spend on a monthly contract. Less of an initial outlay, but you'll end up paying over the odds, albeit with some mobile data credit thrown in to ease the pain. Is there a third way? There is with Tesco.
Tesco is doing an interest-free deal for the must-have tablet. The prices are the same as buying from anywhere else, with all models in stock, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi
3G. But in Tesco's case, there's an option to pay off over six months for your chosen device, without paying a penny over the ticket price. But make sure you do as a 16.9 per cent APR kicks in if you go beyond that. There's even Clubcard points thrown in too, if that means anything to you.
It's a great deal on a few levels. Firstly, it's interest-free credit, so you spread the cost over a period of time without paying over the odds. Secondly, you don't need to sign up to a data deal to spread the cost and thirdly, you are only tied to six months of credit, not a lengthy data contract deal. You might regret the latter if Apple does, as expected, launch the iPad 2 early in 2011.
