New iPod touch turns white

New processor also said to be on-board next-generation device

We heard recently that the all-new fifth generation iPod touch was going to come with 3G on board. Well, that's not mentioned in the latest rumours circulating about the device, but some other interesting features are.

One is a pretty obvious design feature – it's going to be available in white. 9 to 5 Mac has some new spy shots of a white iPod touch, or at least, the 'digitizer component', which is, as you can see, finished in white. It seems like Apple has now mastered the technique after all the problems with the iPhone 4 and isn't going to waste all those research and development hours. Obviously the pictures might not be legitimate (or could be related to the white iPhone 4), but they do have the look of something genuine and make a lot of sense.

The site also quotes more details via the previously-reliable Ming-Chi Kuo, who claims the design isn't much changed from the current iPod touch, but will get a boost under the bonnet. Specifically packing a dual-core A5 processor to keep the device as a contender in mobile gaming.

Wi-Fi connectivity? It's a tempting proposition, that's for sure.
