You Fix plan combines contract with prepay
T-Mobile is unleashing a brand new scheme which combines contract and pay-as-you-go. Called You Fix, it's a halfway house between the two which ties you into a short, low-end contract that let's customers top-up when they've ran out of their quota of minutes and text.
If you start a You Fix contract, you're only nailed down for a relatively short 12 months, for which you'll get your allotment of minutes and texts plus a Flexible Booster, which works like a bolt-on perk for extras like web use.
You'll be able to choose from one of several mid-range handsets, including the Samsung Galaxy Gio, BlackBerry 8520 or HTC Wildfire S (prices vary around the £70-£85 mark depending on which plan you pick).
Then, depending on how much you think you'll be nattering and texting away, you pick the tarrif to suit your usage. £15.50 per month will get you 75 minutes and 75 texts, £20.50 will give you 100 minutes and 100 texts, and £26 will bag your a far more wholesome 300 minutes and 300 texts. After that – then it's pay-as-you-go. Easy.
Sounds like an interesting way to grab a decent handset without being trapped in a very long contract (or having to pay through the nose for a pay-as-you-go phone). And a good way to make sure you don't rack up an astronomical bill...
T-Mobile has been nominated in our longlist for Best Network in the Mobile Choice Consumer Awards 2011. Do you think it deserves to win? Cast your vote here.<
