Music streaming service now available to pay monthly users

Heard of Deezer? Well, unless you live in France or own a Sonos system, we wouldn't blame you if you haven't. It's a Spotify-like music service, allowing you to stream tunes via your computer and crucially here, using your mobile phone too. You can find out what that is like for free if you are an Orange pay monthly customer.

Deezer Mobile is very much like Spotify, with access to up to 13 million tracks for streaming or indeed, for downloading so you can play them offline (or out of range of a network connection). If you are not on Orange, you'll be looking at £9.99 per month. So to get it as part of your contract on the Orange network is a really good saving.

'Deezer has always aimed to put fans in control of their own music – whether at a desk or on the move,' said Mark Foster, MD of Deezer UK. 'We're delighted to be partnering with Orange to offer a truly flexible mobile music experience, and look forward to seeing all the tapping feet on the Tube.'

According to TechRadar, the deal comes after Orange failed to agree terms with Spotify over a similar deal, although the network was impressed with the way Deezer interacted with mobiles.

Spotify is instead heading to Virgin Mobile on set-top boxes, although it might well be offered to mobile users of that particular company too.
