BlackBerry Bold 9980 aims to pull in the style crowd
Details are scarce, but one thing is known – BlackBerry and Porsche Design are holding a press conference next week.
That's likely to see the launch of a new high-end handset, which will be known as the BlackBerry Bold 9980 or the BlackBerry Knight. As you can see from the image, obtained via CrackBerry, the handset is like nothing else in the company's range.
But it is like a number of things out of the Porsche Design stable, unmistakably minimal and modernist in inspiration, with sharp edges and with a new take on the BlackBerry keypad. It's something BlackBerry fans will instantly love or hate. As for what's beneath that sleak exterior, we don't know – all will be revealed at the press event, which is scheduled for 27 October in Dubai. Hopefully BlackBerry OS 7.
Of course, this isn't the first Porsche Design handset. We featured the P'9522 way back in 2008. That phone sold in the likes of Harrods and Selfridges for a seriously premium price. We expect this BlackBerry to do much the same.
